In-Home Parent Educator
Department: Family Education and Prevention Dept.
Job Status: Full Time (Feb through September with possibility of renewal
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Family Education and Prevention
Salary: $25,000.00
Closing Date: Friday, February 19, 2010 at 5pm
The In-Home Parent Educator is responsible for facilitating in-home parenting sessions and
providing family support services to women referred by Aliviane, an organization which
creates and operates a variety of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention, Intervention, and
Treatment Services. The Parent Educator will utilize the S.T.E.P. (Systematic Training for
Effective Parenting) Program which is provided through the Child Crisis Center of El Paso.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Development, Community Health Education, Social
Work, Public Health or related field.
Experience
Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years experience in parent, childhood and/or teen setting
(ages 0-18).
Two years experience in the areas of drug and alcohol or related field preferred.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Basic computer skills required: Microsoft Office
Certification in Drug and Alcohol preferred
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Valid driver’s license
Excellent verbal written communication skills
Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all background
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Self-Confidence
Ability to motivate others
