Mon-Fri from 9:30a.m.- 6:00p.m.                                                     
May work some evenings, holidays, and weekends.

POSITION SUMMARY

The cook prepares meals according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, and
numbers of portions to be
served, for children enrolled in our program and staff who have direct contact with the children.
The cook will also oversee day to day operations of the kitchen.
               
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Apportion and serve food to children enrolled in our program and staff who have direct
    contact with the children.

  • Prepares meals according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, and
    numbers of portions to be served.

  • Weekly and monthly grocery shopping.

  • Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment.

  • Compile and maintain records of food use and  expenditures; monitor menus to ensure
    meals are prepared economically.

  • Take inventory of supplies and equipment.

  • Plan menus that are varied, nutritionally balanced, and appetizing, taking advantage of
    foods in season and local availability.

  • Assures there are no open packages in the pantry and cupboards and all food is shelved.
  • Ensures all expired food is disposed immediately.

  • Sanitizes dining table, chairs, and baby high chairs.

  • Following each meal, sweeps the kitchen and dining area floors. Will mop area if liquid
    spills are  present.

  • Maintain files according to NSLP requirements.

  • Will occasionally attend training sessions.

  • Other related duties as assigned.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Experience
  • Two to four years related experience

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Computer Skills

  • Other Requirements
  • Individuals must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a    valid
