Thank you for your interest in participating in the 2008 Trot for Tots 5K
Competitive Race/Fun Walk and Fun Fair presented by the Children’s Hospital
at Providence. This year we want to make our event a spectacular family
event. We want runners and walkers to enjoy the Ascarate Park course and
we want you to bring your kids to enjoy all the activities at the fun fair.
Formally known at the Rooster Run, the Trot for Tots race is among the first
sanctioned runs of the racing season. Trot for Tots is sanctioned by USA
Track and Field. This is an ideal opportunity for competitive runners to get
ready for the race season and walking enthusiasts to enjoy a summer morning
stroll around the lake.
New this year is our Fun Fair following the race. After completing your run or
walk, let your kids enjoy a morning of games and activities provided by many
local non-profit agencies. We want to promote Child Abuse Prevention but we
work closely with the many agencies in our community to achieve our mission.
Therefore, we have invited our partner non-profits to set up booths with
games and activities for kids and to be able to provide you information on
services available in El Paso.
Also new this year, for your entertainment and enjoyment, we will be hosting
the 1st Annual Trot for Tots Mascot Race. Many of El Paso’s mascots, from
local business, City and County agencies, schools and universities will compete
for a traveling trophy. The Mascot course will be lined with obstacles and the
races will be fun to watch. Your children will have an opportunity to meet
their favorite mascots and take pictures with them as well.
We still have more activities coming this year. Police, Fire and military
displays will be at the race. Your children will be able to sit in a police car
and pretend they are police officers, climb onto a fire truck, or get inside
various military vehicles. Many Ft. Bliss soldiers will be at the event and you
will have many opportunities to take pictures of your children with our public
safety professionals and military personnel.
All activities associated with the Fun Fair are free to the public and you do
not need to participate in the race to come out to the after race activities.
